WHAT is an expert panel?

VentureNet Iowa has enlisted a dynamic pool of skilled professionals to assist in the evaluation of companies.  These individuals participate in the assessment of a company’s business model, technology, marketing strategy and management team in order to help the company determine its progress along the commercialization path.

WHO are on the Expert Panels?

The panels are made up of specialists recognized in their fields with backgrounds in bio-science, information technology, advanced manufacturing and value-added agriculture.  They come from various management perspectives (i.e. – operations, technology, marketing, finance etc.).  Many of them are entrepreneurs.  The panels are chosen to offer their informed and candid feedback in a balanced and impartial way.

HOW does it work?

Prior to meeting with a company, documentation on the enterprise (drawn from the Angelsoft submission) is shared with the panel.  After reviewing the material and listening to a presentation from the company, the panelists immediately provide their feedback via a dialogue with the company’s principals.  Following the presentation and discussion, the panelists provide written feedback that is compiled and provided to the presenters.

THEN what happens?

Going forward, the panelists and company principals are encouraged to collaborate at any level as they might agree upon.  VentureNet Iowa stays involved and continues to offer resources to the company as needed – all at the company’s discretion.
